British Ramses School Kattameya


1- What is BRS?

British Ramses School started in 2013 as a fully-accredited Foundation 1 to Year 12 Cambridge and Edexcel school. Strategically located in Kattameya, New Cairo, it is one of the Evangelical Church of Egypt (Synod of the Nile) Schools.


2- What is the exact date for admissions?

The admissions date for the 2018-2019 academic year will be on Friday, the 15th of December 2017, and applications will be available at the school premises .


3- What are the required application documents?

  • Application form .
  • 12 personal photos.

  • One original and one copy of the applicant’s electronic birth certificate.

  • Copies of both parents’ IDs.

  • Copies of both parents’ university graduation certificates.

  • All the above documents must be submitted for an application to be processed.

  • Application fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether or not the applicant is accepted.


4- If my child who is transferring from another school is accepted at BRS, what are the transfer procedures and documents?

5- How old does my child need to admit to Foundation 1?

The student must be at least 4 years old on the first of October 2018. No applications are available for children who are less than 4 years old, unless they have siblings in BRS and if they at least are 3 years and 10 months old.


6- Are there entrance exams required for admission?

Yes, entrance exams are required as follows:

  • Foundation students: An entrance exam for the student in addition to an interview for both parents.

  • Year 5 till Year10: An English entrance exam.

7- Do you accept new students from National, French or German schools?

Yes, but as with all applicants, acceptance is contingent upon the student's score on the entry exam.


8- When is the school's weekend and what are the school's holidays?

As per the Synod of the Nile’s consistent policy for all of its schools:

  • Weekends are on Fridays and Sundays.

  • The mid-year vacation is the same as that of National-system schools. 

  • National holidays are determined by the Ministry of Education.


9- How many semesters does BRS have?

The school is broken up into Two terms.

Term one runs from first of September until end of January. Term 2 from first of February until end of May.


10- What is the capacity of students per class?

20 students per class for all stages. To increase one-on-one attention given to students in the Foundation stage, Foundation classes have both a class teacher and an assistant teacher.


11- Do you offer a second language?

Student may choose either French or German as a second language as of Foundation 1. The second language is listening-only in the Foundation stages.


12- Are there any foreign teachers?

No, BRS teachers are highly-qualified and experienced Egyptians.


13- ​Is there any discount for my second child?

Yes, there is a 10% discount for the second child.


14- What are the bus fees, routes, and application?

  • Bus fees are fixed for all routes regardless of distance (were EGP 8,000 for the academic year 2017-2018).

  • Bus route availability depends on the number of students applying for that particular route, and will be announced at the beginning of the academic year.

  • The bus application date will be posted on the school website.

15- Are there any “donation” fees?

BRS does not require any “donation” fees.


16- Can my BRS IGCSE son/daughter enroll in an IG subject elsewhere?

BRS does not permit its students to enroll in an IG subject outside the school as long as the subject is offered at the school.


17- Does BRS accept students in Year 8?

BRS can accept students transferring into Year 8 only if they are coming from British schools that follow the Cambridge curriculum. Because Year 8 is a Cambridge checkpoint, students will undergo Cambridge examinations that cover both Year 7 and 8 curricula.
