Access Arrangements - Special Consideration - Modified Paper Applications / Cambridge International May June 2019 Examinations Session

Dear all,

Access Arrangement Applications – Cambridge International May/ June 2019 exams session

Schools with candidates who have permanent disabilities, learning difficulties, or who suffer from medical conditions that affect performance at the time of the examinations can apply in advance for an Access Arrangement.

Access arrangements allow candidates with substantial and long-term disabilities access to the examinations including:

  • Extra time allowance
  • Provision of specially-adapted papers
  • Assistance with reading or writing

Schools are required to submit requests for Access Arrangements by filling Cambridge Access Arrangements form 1(attached) and sending it to the Officer in charge by Monday 14th January 2019.

Modified Question paper Applications:

Modified paper is allowed for candidates with visual perception difficulties. Schools are required to submit requests for Modified papers by filling Cambridge Modified Papers form 3 (attached) and sending it to the Officer in charge by Monday 14th January 2019.

Special Consideration Applications:

Candidates who are disadvantaged and affected on the day of the examination due to unexpected circumstances, are entitled to apply for special consideration. Examples of special consideration eligibility may be:                                                                                                                                                         

  • Recent personal illness
  • Accident
  • Death in the family
  • Serious disturbances during the examination

Special consideration must not give the candidate an advantage over other candidates and Cambridge will base its decision to award the special consideration on various factors, which may vary from student to student and from one examination to another.

Applications for special consideration must be submitted to the British Council within 4 days of the last examination of the syllabus affectedSchools will be required to submit applications by filling Cambridge special consideration form 7 (attached) and sending it to the Officer in chargeThe form is also available on CIE Direct.

 

The following documents are required for the above applications:

  • Submit an original medical report in English explaining the case and the required assistance.
  • The report should be recent, authentic, dated, signed, and stamped.
  • The report should be delivered to the Officer in Charge.

Please note the following:

  • Special arrangement is not considered approved without receiving a written consent from Cambridge with clear wording of what to be done and the type of assistance provided by the British Council.
  • One form should be submitted per student per syllabus and any supporting evidence e.g. medical certificates should be included.
